VIP Admission and De•Formed Exhibit Bundle ($30) – Gain access to the event an hour before doors open! You’ll have a chance to peruse our huge vendor show floor before the crowds, as well as a ticket to a unique walkthrough exhibit featuring real congenital anomalies!
Taxidermy Class – Rat Skin Rug (+$175): Learn how to fully skin, flesh, and tan a rat of your very own! This class cove all the basics and then some! Whether you’re a beginner or an enthusiast- this class is perfect for all levels! Our talented instructor will guide you through the detail work and mounting your animal’s face (all skills you can take home and use for future taxidermy endeavors!) This class runs at about three hours, which leaves you ample time to explore the expo and even sign up for another class!
Butterfly Pinning Class (+$125): A must try for all insect lovers! This class will teach you all the steps to pinning a butterfly! You’ll learn the basics then mount your butterfly in a beautiful shadow box! This is a fun and easy class and you’ll leave with a new skill for life! All supplies included!
Diorama Terrarium Workshop (+$40): Create your own diorama terrarium in this workshop! You’ll curate a beautiful and peculiar miniature cloche dome, filled with your choice of dried flowers, insects, bones and more! Create a tiny wonder to take home and cherish! All supplies included!
Owl Pellet Dissection Class (+$20): Learn about owls’ eating habits by dissecting an owl pellet! In this all ages class, you’ll find everything from teeth, claws, and bones! You’ll identify your various findings- then take home everything you find in your pellet!
Access to the parking garage is to the west of River Road (across from the convention center) between the Doubletree Hotel and the Embassy Suites. Going south on River Rd., you will turn right just after passing under the pedestrian bridge. If you are northbound on River Rd., turn left at the Doubletree Hotel, before you get to the pedestrian bridge.
The convention center is a short two block walk south from the Rosemont/River Road station on the CTA Blue Line.
Southbound on I-294 (Tri-State Tollway) and from Rockford on I-90 East Exit at O’Hare (I-190 West)
Pay toll and stay in the right lane. Exit at Mannheim Rd. SOUTH. Bear right and re-enter the expressway toward Chicago (away from the airport). Proceed 1 mile, exit River Rd. SOUTH. Convention center is on your left, and entrance to the parking lot will be just past the Bryn Mawr Rd. stoplight; turn RIGHT to enter the parking lot.
Northbound on I-294 (Tri-State Tollway)
Exit at O’Hare/River Rd. (I-190 West); pay toll and exit LEFT after the toll plaza to River Rd., turn RIGHT on River Rd. Convention Center is about 3 blocks on the left; entrance to the parking garage will be on your right just past Bryn Mawr (stoplight)…turn right at the Doubletree Hotel.
From Chicago on the Kennedy Expressway (I-90)
Exit O’Hare (I-190 West), and then exit at River Rd. Turn right on River Rd., convention center is about 2 blocks on the left; entrance to the parking garage will be on your right just past Bryn Mawr (stoplight)…turn right at the Doubletree Hotel.
When Departing – Return to the Tri-State Tollway from the convention center
NORTHBOUND – Take River Rd. south to Balmoral Ave. (near the Rosemont Theater), turn RIGHT (west) to Mannheim Rd., turn north to I-190 east to Chicago. One-half mile to I-294 North toward Wisconsin.
SOUTHBOUND – Take River Rd. south to Balmoral Ave. (near the Rosemont Theater), turn RIGHT (west) to I-294 South. To Chicago on the Kennedy Expressway Go NORTH on River Rd. Eastbound entrance to the expressway is to your right just past the Bryn Mawr stoplight.
